Most employees today are typically members of
three to five teams. Teams and work groups can be highly effective
in managing complex tasks and processes and solving problems. However,
many teams are not as effective as they could be. Often, individual
contributors do not know how to work collaboratively in a group
or how to align their actions to the defined purpose of the group
and organization.
The High-Performance Team Workshop provides
a series of tools and techniques that help individuals work together
to develop a team identity. It helps the group move from a collection
of individuals to a high-performing team. The hands-on workshop
allows participants to address real organizational issues, while
developing their skills.
The emphasis of the High-Performance Team Workshop
is on group fundamentals. Participants experience the three dimensions
of team alignment: collaboration, communication, and commitment.
They explore how a team operates when all members work together
to resolve the problem facing them and address factors that affect
their team communication.
As a result of attending the program, participants
will have an enhanced sense of team purpose and mission and will
have developed team skills and appropriate group behaviors. In addition,
they will have made progress toward solving a real problem they
brought to the program.
The High-Performance Team Workshop is comprised
of the following six units.
This unit addresses the impact change has on corporations
today and introduces the team problem-solving process as a collaborative
approach for successfully dealing with change. Participants have
the opportunity to receive feedback on their teamÕs performance,
based on the key characteristics measured by the Team Performance
Profile (TPP).
In this unit, the team applies a five-step process
to a real work issue facing the group. Participants work on selecting
and defining a problem, identifying causes, and developing and implementing
a solution.
This unit centers on creating group alignment
by developing a group purpose statement and reaching agreement to
the purpose statement within the team.
This unit provides the team with communication
techniques to minimize and resolve interpersonal conflicts among
team members.
This unit
emphasizes the importance of following the team process to fully
utilize the talents of all team members and to reinforce teamwork,
responsibility, achievement, and risk taking. This involvement leads
to individual fulfillment and enables the team to perform at high
levels. The team learns that extending the process to the larger
organization creates a climate that leads to continued success.
This unit teaches consensus techniques to achieve group alignment
on the significant and complex issues facing the team. The team
identifies its goals in measurable terms, works together to determine
the best key steps to achieve its goals, and then reaches consensus
on an Action Plan.
At the completion of the workshop, participants
make a formal executive presentation. Presented to senior management,
the team summarizes the groupÕs goals and Action Plan for the issue
they examined during the workshop.
